The regional government, health and social services reform in Finland will establish the new counties and reform the structure, services and funding health and social services as well as transfer new duties to the counties.
The reform is scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2021.
The regional government, health and social services reform is being carried out to ensure that everyone can have high-quality public services on an equal basis throughout the country.
The reform will also improve people’s opportunities to participate. Residents of the counties will be able to make their voice heard more easily than before in matters affecting their own lives, everyday life and the environment.
